1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Method X (Pty) Ltd ("Method X", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our website at methodx.uk and our services (the "Services").

Method X is the responsible party for your personal information. We are committed to protecting your personal information and handling it responsibly, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

2. What personal information we collect

Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect the following:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored securely in encrypted/hashed form — we never store your password in plain text).
  • Guardian information (for users under 18): where you indicate you are under 18, we collect the name and email address of your parent or guardian, together with a record of guardian consent and the date it was given.
  • CV information: the information you enter into the CV builder. This may include your contact details (such as phone number and location), your education history, work or volunteer experience, skills, languages, references, and a photograph, if you choose to provide these. You control what you enter.
  • Payment information: when you purchase a plan, your payment is processed by a third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your card details. We retain a record of the transaction (such as the amount, date, plan purchased, and a payment reference) to confirm and manage your purchase.
  • Usage information: information about your progress through the interview training modules (such as which modules you have started or completed and quiz results), and basic technical information necessary to operate the Services.

3. How we collect your information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you — when you create an account, complete the CV builder, make a purchase, or otherwise use the Services.
  • Automatically — basic information generated as you use the Services (such as module progress and information needed to keep you securely logged in).

4. Why we collect and use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • create and manage your account and keep you securely logged in;
  • provide the CV builder and save and restore your CV;
  • provide the interview training and track your progress and completion;
  • process your purchases and manage your access;
  • communicate with you about your account (for example, password reset codes);
  • respond to your requests and provide support;
  • maintain the security and integrity of the Services;
  • comply with our legal obligations.

5. Consent

We process your personal information on the basis of your consent (given when you register and agree to this policy), to provide the Services you sign up for, and to comply with our legal obligations. You may withdraw your consent at any time (see "Your rights" below), although this may mean we can no longer provide some or all of the Services to you.

6. Children and minors

We take particular care with the information of users under the age of 18.

  • Where a user indicates they are under 18, we require the consent of a parent or guardian before the account is created, and we record that consent and the date it was given.
  • We handle a minor's personal information with the same care, security, and respect as all other personal information, and the same rights (including the right to request deletion) apply.
  • A parent or guardian may contact us at info@methodx.uk to access, correct, or request deletion of their child's information.

7. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as necessary to provide the Services, with:

  • Our payment processor, to process your purchases securely.
  • Our infrastructure and hosting providers, who host the website, database, and video content that run the Services.
  • Our email delivery provider, to send you service emails such as password reset codes.

These providers process your information on our behalf and are required to protect it. We may also disclose information where required by law.

8. How we keep your information secure

We take the security of your personal information seriously and use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it, including encryption of passwords, secure (HTTPS) connections, restricted access to personal information, and access controls on our systems. Payment card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and are never stored by us.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any security issues promptly.

9. How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law, up to a maximum of five years after your account becomes inactive. Where information is no longer needed, we will delete or de-identify it.

10. Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
  • request deletion of your personal information;
  • object to the processing of your information in certain circumstances;
  • withdraw consent you have previously given;
  • complain to the Information Regulator (see below).

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
